RPM Sports Massage - Sara Louise Turner BSc MSMA Level 4

Sara the driving force behind RPM Sports Massage has always loved sport, being a mad hatter who at school would always volunteer to be part of any competition or sport going. Outside school she had a particular love of horses and in her teens particularly Eventing where she represented her regional club in national level competitions. From there to carry her passions through she gained a degree at the University of Gloucestershire with 2nd class honours in 2002 in Sport and Exercise Science. At that time my interests were water polo and academically what really motivated me were the psychological factors that influence sport and exercise and its participants! Although a thorough understanding of biomechanics and physiology were also needed.

Since leaving University sport has remained a large part of her life. Enjoying swimming, running, Pilates and the gym. Also riding racehorses for fun!

Sara has been employed over the last few years by Worcestershire PCT and works locally at Evesham Community Hospital assisting the night charge nurses and their staff in the care and rehabilitation of patients.

Feeling the draw of a more sporting career, Sara decided that an opportunity of a diploma in Sports Massage with Sports Performance Ltd. an SMA accredited course to good to miss. Here she gained valuable experience with a Cheltenham netball team and many active people. Combining all her attributes to RPM Sports Massage.

What to expect

RPM Sports Massage is based in Evesham, Worcestershire. Sara works from her private clinic at home or as the service is mobile, appointments at your home can be organised. In the later instance towels, plinth and hypoallergenic gel oil is provided, all is required is a decent sized area, obstacle free (eg. living room).

Any questions you may have prior to making an appointment will be answered as best as possible. I will ask you a few health questions, which is part of my medically screening process to rule out any conditions which make massage inappropriate. Once an appointment has been made either by phone or email, I will send you a confirmation letter with a little information on. Included will be a leaflet and a couple of business cards. Feel free to keep these or give to friends who are interested.

Please arrive at your appointment five minutes before, as I run my clinic with successive appointments it would be a shame to not maximise the time you have booked with me.

What to wear?

Please ensure you wear suitable underwear under the clothes you come in. For draping, professionalism and dignity reasons, for men, male brief type pants are best. For ladies again brief type pants and a back fastening bra is best. If you wear a sport over the head type bra this is likely to have to be removed if you're requiring a back massage, once massage starts. At all times I aim to keep you feeling dignified and comfortable.

A thorough questionnaire and assessment is carried out at your first appointment, again to ensure massage is safe for you and the most appropriated massage techniques are given. So if I feel alternative action is required before or after massage I can refer you onto an appropriate person.

It is therefore required on your initial consultation to have a 1-hour appointment. This allows adequate assessment time and then time for massage. If it is felt that you should be referred on, all letters and phone calls required to sort this is included. If after a thorough assessment I feel massage would be the wrong course of action again I can refer you on with all letter and calls included in that consultation fee.

I keep all records regarding clients safe and confidential.

After the initial appointment either a 1-hour or half hour appointment can be made. If the appointment is at your home then a 1-hour appointment is required to make my time worthwhile.

The base rates are as follows: 1 hour £40, ½ hour £25 to be paid by cash or cheque at each session. I do not invoice, however I am happy to give you a receipt if you need to claim money back from an employer or for insurance reasons. If I have to travel far, there maybe a surcharge. If you recommend me to a friend, colleague or relative, you can claim a 10% discount on your next appointment. Your friend needs to tell me your name when booking and conversely you need to give me theirs. Your discounted appointment needs to be taken following their's.
